Purple Martin Birdhouses – Many Choices!
Purple Martin birdhouses come in many different styles, shapes and sizes. They are also made from many different materials. The most important things to consider when choosing a purple martin house are the appearance, simple to assemble, quality of construction, ease of nest checks, protection from other competing birds and of course cost. Fortunately, there are beuatiful martin bird houses available for any budget. There are mainly two types of purple martin houses: gourds and conventional multi-level houses for nesting several bird families at once. These types of homes are usually mounted on a telescoping pole, where the pole raises and lowers for nest checks. This is one of my favorite gourds for Martins. There’s plently of room in this gourd for a growing family of Purple Martins with a full 9.5 inch diameter nesting space. It also has a large 4 inch clean-out/inspection hole for easy cleaning and a large porch. No Tools Required.
14 Family Purple Martin House
This conventional house can fit up to 14 Purple Martin families. Six on each side and two in the roof. Each compartment is 6"x6". Each comes with porches, landing and take-off rails, and hinged doors for easy cleaning. It snaps together easily… no tools required.
Purple Martin 2 Quad Pod System
This Quad Pod Purple Martin House System is designed by Purple Martin Enthusiasts. Designed to keep the Martins safe each pod comes with a predator guard. The compartments are a comfy 8"x8" and come with an exercise perch. What I like best about this system is that it is stackable. 4 pods can be stacked on a single pole.
Deluxe Cedar Purple Martin House
I always like to have a little charm in my birdhouse nesting area and this Cedar house fit in perfectly. It has 12 compartments and the room dividers, roof and floors lift out so it can be cleaned easily. This is a sturdy purple martin birdhouse that is built to last.
